(ALL DAY PUBLIC VIEWING AT HOWARD THEATRE MAY 29th 11am til 10pm PUBLIC MEMORIAL SERVICE at CONVENTION CENTER MAY 31st 12pm-3pm

Please Note: The general public is welcome to attend the viewing, which will take place on the first floor of the theater. Please note: no photography of any kind will be allowed inside of the theater.


For those who are not able to use public transportation, limited parking is available near the Howard Theatre on the day of the viewing:
• Howard Center, located at 2224 Georgia Avenue (across from Howard University Bookstore)
• East Towers Lot, located at 2200 8th St. NW (behind the Howard Center lot)
• Banneker South, located at 2345 Sherman Avenue.

Memorial Service
The use of public transportation is also strongly encouraged for the memorial service. The Mount Vernon Square/7th Street/Convention Center Metrorail stop on the Green/Yellow Lines directly services the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Multiple Metrobus and D.C. Circulator bus routes also stop on at the Convention Center on Mount Vernon Place NW, M Street NW and 7th Street NW.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Chuck Brown Foundation, Inc. PO Box 4558, Silver Spring, MD 20914 (www.thechuckbrownfoundation.com). The Chuck Brown Foundation is a Maryland nonstock corporation. It is in the process of applying for Section 501(c)(3) status under the Internal Revenue Code.

Mayor Gray and Brown Family Announce Public Memorial Service for Go-Go Icon Chuck Brown
at Walter E. Washington Convention Center on Thursday, May 31st, 12pm-4pm

WHAT/WHO: The Brown Family, Mayor Vincent C. Gray, Events DC and The Howard Theatre have invited fans of the late Go-Go Grammy Nominated Icon Chuck Brown to a Public Memorial memorializing and celebrating his life and contributions to the District’s and the nation’s musical and cultural heritage. The Public Memorial Service will include; The Brown Family, Mayor Vincent C. Gray, Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton, Chairman Kwame Brown, Councilman Marion Barry, City Officials, VIP’s, Dr. Michael A. Freeman (Eulogy, Spirit of Faith Church), Celebrity Guests including; Donnie Simpson (Host), Doug E. Fresh, Mike Epps, Ledisi, Kindred the Family Soul, Tom Joyner, Raheem DeVaughn, Sugar Bear, Omarosa, Cliff Jones, Tye Tribbett, Big G, Huggy Lowdown, Chris Paul, Rock Newman, The Chuck Brown Band and more to be announced.

Satellite Trucks: Parking for camera trucks for news organizations will be allowed on 9th Street NW, between L Street and M Street, NW (first come first serve) beginning at 4:00 a.m. on the day of the service, May 31, 2012.

Media Room; Room 204 ABC in the Convention Center will have access to a video and audio feed of the memorial service will be provided.

Pool video feed of the service will be provided through the DC Government’s Office of Cable Television. Mult box available for clean multi camera/switched video and audio program feed (limited to 12), on a first-come, first-served basis. (Composite BNC video out/Analog XLR audio out) Signal will be 4 X 3.
Program feed will be available from the rear of the stage in the production control area. Live signal will also be available through AVOC.  Feed will be available starting at 11:00 a.m.  There will be a press area with a riser provided in the rear of the room in direct view of the stage. (There is power available at this location). Space is very limited.

A media room and feed will also be available in Room 204 – ABC.
